Most Secret Instagrammable Places in Tulum

Ven a la Luz

Ven a la Luz

When planning a trip to Tulum, you are sure to come across countless blog posts about the most Instagrammable places to visit. These, of course, are likely to include the “Follow Your Dream” sign, the Matcha Mama swings, the Coco Tulum swings, Ven a la Luz, Dos Ojos Cenote, Gran Cenote, Macondo at Nomade, Raw Love - the list goes on. But what about the most Instagrammable places in Tulum that are still a secret?! At least for now... Here are my top Instagrammable places in Tulum that are still hidden gems:

  1. Azulik Wine Cellar

  2. Casa Malca Chandelier Room

  3. Casa Malca Beach Tunnel

  4. Casa Malca Wooden Wall 1

  5. Casa Malca Wooden Wall 2

  6. Jungle Arches

  7. Gitano Disco Lounge

Azulik Wine Cellar

#1: Azulik Wine Cellar

Azulik is a Tulum hotel known for its stunning treehouse style evident in its jungle rooms, its museum Sfer Ik, and its restaurant / bar Kin Toh. And don’t get me wrong - ALL of those locations are incredibly Instagrammable. But the one place that is rarely photographed or talked about is the beautiful wine cellar in Kin Toh!

Opposite the main bar, there is a door that leads to a wooden tunnel-like room, lit with lanterns and lined with hundreds of bottles of wine. There is unique and intimate seating as you make your way through the tunnel, and at the end, you are met with a sexy private lounge that resembles a tribal domed airplane hangar. Definitely an Instagram worthy place!

#2: Casa Malca Chandelier Room

Casa Malca is another Tulum hotel famous for having previously been one of the many homes of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. It is most Instagram famous for its outdoor couch swing hanging between the curtains of vintage wedding dresses, but there are several other Instagrammable spots on this extravagant estate.

As you tour the mansion, you will come across a royal purple room covered in rich velvet walls, luxurious velvet armchairs / couches, and luminous chandeliers. This is definitely a room worth snapping a few photos in.

#3: Casa Malca Beach Tunnel

If you head out back by the pool at Casa Malca, you may not notice it at first, but there is a cute, little tunnel made entirely from branches and leaves that opens up to the beach! Another less well-known yet very Instagrammable place!

#4: Casa Malca Wooden Wall 1

Similar to the inside of the hotel, as you explore the outside of Casa Malca, you will see unique artwork and funky decor. There is one wall that is decorated completely with slabs from a tree trunk. It may not seem Instagram worthy at first, but strike a pose, and you’ll find it to be a one-of-a-kind backdrop.

# 5: Casa Malca Wooden Wall 2

Casa Malca is aesthetically pleasing until the very end of your visit. Don’t be afraid to take a few minutes for a quick photoshoot on your way out of Casa Malca. Between the towering fortress-like wooden walls and the single palm tree swaying by the main gate, this spot surely makes the Instagrammable list.

#6: Jungle Arches

Right by the cafe Raw Love and beach resort Ahau Tulum, there is a spectacular art installation called Ven a la Luz, which translates to Come into the Light. This was originally on my most secret Instagrammable list; however, this incredible 8-meter tall sculpture has become SO popular within the last year that it’s definitely not a secret anymore.

But not too far away from Ven a la Luz is another picturesque spot, which I refer to as the jungle arches. This is one spot worth checking out for the gram.

#7: Gitano Disco Lounge

Gitano is one of the most popular restaurants to visit for dinner and to enjoy the Tulum nightlife. They have incredible food, the tastiest drinks, live music during dinner, and a section that turns into a club where you can dance the night away. The chic jungalow vibes of this restaurant and mezcal bar are captured by the modern and trendy decor - especially the sparkling disco ball lighting up the wilderness surrounding it, making it a perfectly Instagrammable place in Tulum.
