An Upscale Hideaway - The Westin Denver

After a year of quarantine and lockdowns, more people are satisfying their appetite for travel in 2021. With travel restrictions still in place for many international destinations, domestic travel in the U.S. has become a popular option, specifically road trips, national parks, and the Southwest in general.

Following suit, we did a Southwest road trip during the pandemic that started in Denver, Colorado, went through Moab and Zion in Utah, and ended in Phoenix, Arizona. We initially flew from Newark to Denver and stayed at the Westin right by the Denver International Airport before we began the road trip portion of our trip. Our stay was an absolute dream! It was the most relaxing and luxurious start to our vacation before going on seven hour long drives and roughing it in 110 degree weather. Here’s how our stay was at the Westin Denver International Airport and why you should check it out!

Location & Cost

The Westin Denver International Airport is connected to the Denver International Airport, specifically to the Jeppesen Terminal. It’s located about a 30 minute drive from the main city area so a rental car is best to get around, but it’s an easy drive and never seemed long. There are also several places to explore nearby like the secret sunflower field we found!

This 4-star hotel hotel is on the pricier side ranging from $250 to $450 per night depending on the day and type of room you book, but it’s convenience and accessibility to Denver make it perfect for a short-term stay.

Aesthetics & Vibes

Denver International Airport

The Westin Denver International Airport is very inventive and modern. The architecture is eye-catching and resembles a set of wings. The interior is contemporary and trendy in design, decor, and furniture. Between the geometric lighting and murals on display, the Westin is an intersection of technology and art. The exterior views are futuristic as you look out at the signature airport tent roof. Overall, this hotel is stylish and innovative.

Rooms & Amenities

The rooms at the Westin Denver International Airport are spacious, clean, and minimalistic yet sophisticated. They are equipped with all necessities when travelling - full bath, tv, mini fridge, iron, desk, roomy closet, full length mirror, and ours had a couch and ottoman as well. There is complimentary coffee, tea, and bottled water. The beds are extremely comfortable and plush, allowing for a relaxing retreat, and despite being an airport hotel, the rooms and hallways are very quiet. The views from the rooms are those of dreamy mountain views and landscapes or the unique airport architecture. There is also full wifi, laundry services, and car rental services offered. The fitness center has a full range of equipment and has plenty of sanitizing wipe dispensers. I felt comfortable enough to work out in the fitness center due to the COVID safety measures. Lastly, there is the most serene indoor heated pool and hot tub with sky-high views.

Dining

Due to COVID, there were limited dining options open and no room service. One of the two dining options included Grill & Vine, which offers farm-to-table and locally sourced breakfast and dinner. Grill & Vine offers a variety of options, including vegetarian; the food and cocktails were very good and fresh. The second option is Ingredients, which is more of a coffee shop that offers Starbucks beverages and drinks and food to go. The SoBe vitamin water was so refreshing, and the cheese and cracker box options were our go-to snacks in between meals. The airport also offers several dining options.

Service & COVID Safety

Westin DIA Sunflower Field

Overall, the service at Westin was wonderful. There is a 24/7 concierge, and the check-in / out processes were easy. The staff was attentive and friendly. Lastly, the Westin Denver International Airport was great about COVID safety. Masks and social distancing were required in all public areas. Public areas were also wiped down / cleaned often, and there were hand sanitizer dispensers everywhere. Overall, we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay here!
